Health – Spring Semester

Tutor – Kristin Bloom

*Prerequisite – 9th Grade & up

Purpose: The purpose of this class is to present the Bible as the foundation for a healthy lifestyle. This health class will encourage students to make healthy choices in the areas of physical, mental, social, and spiritual health. Students will be presented with evidence that the choices they make (past, present, and future) will have an impact on these 4 areas of health.

Grading: The grade for this will be based on: class participation, two quizzes, a project, and homework. You should plan to do about 2 hours a week of work outside of class.

Sensitive Topics: The textbook for this class contains some anatomically correct sketches. There are a few sections of the book that contain information that needs to be taught delicately. The tutor believes these topics are best taught by a parent in a home setting. These sections will not be required reading, nor will the homework questions about them. Parents will receive an e-mail at the appropriate time to read these sections with students. The tutor encourages parents to read these sections with their students, discuss them, and keep an open dialog.
