Andrew is currently the Director of Worship at Severna Park Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Before coming to SPEP, Andrew served as Worship Associate at New Hope Community Church and Director of Music at St. Hilda’s Episcopal Church, both in Catonsville. Becky Case earned her degree in Music Education through Grove City College in 2004. She has since become a homeschool educator and has gone on to teach classes at the various homeschool co-ops and tutorials that her four daughters have attended. Christian Ferguson was homeschooled throughout his education and recently graduated from Cairn University with a B.S. in Business Administration and a minor in Biblical Studies. Having experienced firsthand the impact of homeschooling, he now seeks to give back by sharing the knowledge and skills he has gained through both his academic studies and real-world business experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

While at Cairn, Christian played Division III soccer all four seasons, earning multiple starts and developing a strong foundation in leadership, discipline, and teamwork. He is currently coming on staff as a Soccer Sports Director with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), where he is launching a Christ-centered soccer club in Maryland focused on developing athletes both physically and spiritually.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trina Ferguson attended the University of Maryland College Park as well as the University of Maryland University College. She received a B.S. degree in Psychology and has worked with children ages 2 \u2013 17 since 1996 in schools, day care centers, churches, homeschool co-ops, and tutorials, as well as through internships in Child Psychology and Early Childhood Education.\u00a0 Trina, along with her wonderful husband, began homeschooling in 2009, graduated their firstborn in 2022, and continues to homeschool their two middle\/high school daughters in Bowie, Maryland.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trina has taught Middle and High School English, History, Science, and Elective classes for 7 years in a tutorial setting. She loves working with children and having fun using games and creative hands-on activities to show how a Biblical perspective can be integrated into Fun, Everyday Life, and Academics. Hello, I\u2019m Rachel! I graduated with honors from Albion College, earning a degree in chemistry with a minor in cell and molecular biology. Growing up in rural Michigan, I spent much of my childhood outdoors, which nurtured a deep love for and appreciation of the world God created. During my time at Albion, I served for several semesters as a teaching assistant in chemistry labs, an experience that strengthened both my love of science and an interest in teaching.<\/p>\n

As a homeschooling parent of four children who have attended or currently attend Cornerstone, I am grateful for the opportunity to support their academic growth and, even more importantly, their spiritual development. I am glad to be able to tutor at Cornerstone and view it as a ministry to local homeschooling families\u2014encouraging students to grow both academically and spiritually. My goal as a science tutor is to inspire wonder at God\u2019s creation while equipping students for future college plans or careers.<\/p>\n

Outside of Cornerstone, I serve with the middle school youth group at my church in Crofton and enjoy traveling, sharing meals with friends, working on puzzles, and reading.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

I started learning American Sign Language (ASL) in my 10th<\/sup> grade year of high school, only because Spanish did not go so well in the 9th<\/sup> grade. I never knew 10 years later I would be an ASL interpreter. I also did not know I would have this wonderful relationship with The Lord.<\/p>\n

My name is Chelsea Hertz. I am first a Child of God. I am also a wife and new mother. My husband and I are currently apart of a team of amazing people who are planting a church! The church will be known as College Creek Church and will be located in Annapolis. We currently are meeting weekly with our core team to worship and discuss all the things you need to know about a church to plant. We will be launching sometime August of 2021.<\/p>\n

I grew up in Texas and moved to Maryland in 2013, where I knew I would have access to the Deaf Community. I attended Community College of Baltimore County and obtained two associate degrees: ASL interpreter preparation and ASL and Deaf Culture. Currently I attend online with Carolina University to achieve my bachelor\u2019s in ASL interpreting, with a minor in ministry.<\/p>\n

I have been working as a Freelance ASL interpreter for the last two years and have recently began working as a Video Interpreter with ZVRS. I have a background of working with many different individuals in many different settings, such as: medical, education, theatrical and VRS. The amazing part about this is it opens my eyes to the beauty of diversity that we will see in Heaven.<\/p>\n

Marjorie\u00a0Impraim\u00a0is a homeschool mom to her five people and wife to the one of a kind Eric\u00a0Impraim\u00a0: ) Together they reside in Maryland, just a short distance from the Chesapeake Bay. She has always had a love for math and science and therefore graduated with a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Maryland at College Park. It was there that she encountered Jesus.<\/p>\n

Her coursework testified to the great order of everything from the tiny cell to the massive universe. How could anyone NOT believe in an all-wise God and Creator? After college she started her career as a Research Associate at The Institute for Genomic Research in Rockville, Md. where she and her team sequenced several bacterial genomes used environmentally.<\/p>\n

During that time period she began to feel that \u201coh-so-familiar\u201d tug on her heart to be a full-time wife and mom to her young family. It was during this time that she learned of this movement that was sweeping her area called \u201chomeschooling.\u201d She readied herself by tutoring local college students in Basic College Math, Calculus and Organic Chemistry. As her family grew, she began to teach at and eventually oversee a homeschool coop. She loves to teach about missions, geography, math, and science.<\/p>\n

Her other love is teaching small group Women\u2019s Bible studies and engaging in biblical counseling. Together, Eric and\u00a0Marjorie\u00a0serve the Lord at their church of nearly 20 years, Calvary Chapel Breath of Life, where Eric is an associate pastor. In their spare time they do a lot of laughing. (Their kids say it\u2019s too much). Amy started tutoring math when she was in 11th<\/sup> grade and first met Jesus through a math project with a classmate her senior year.<\/p>\n

She went on to The Ohio State University and completed a BS in Electrical Engineering and a BS in Computer and Information Science Engineering and then worked 11 years for IBM doing logic design, technical sales, and network management consulting and education.<\/p>\n

Her focus shifted to \u201cMom\u201d when her first child was born, and from 1997 \u2013 2011 she taught math to homeschooled high school students at Cornerstone Tutorial in Severna Park, Maryland. Additionally, she directed the children\u2019s ministry at her church. In 2011 she moved on to Annapolis Area Christian School along with two of her children, where she taught high school math for nine years, and in 2020 she returned to Cornerstone.<\/p>\n

She is passionate about math and problem solving and sees the reasoning skills of math as essential to the pursuit of Biblical truth. She LOVES helping students learn new skills and seeing the light bulb come on! In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors (especially downhill skiing and SUPing!), cooking, choir, oboe, and spending time with her husband and\/or three+ adult children.<\/p>\n

I have always loved languages and cultures, from elementary Latin, to dabbling in Dutch in an exchange program in the Netherlands, to high school Spanish, to even dipping my toes into French and Arabic while in college. In three years, I graduated from Cedarville University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish and a minor in Bible. My last semester was spent in Valencia, Spain at the Institute for Spanish Studies where I spent my days immersed in the rich history, culture, and language of the Spanish people. I would not trade that experience for anything.<\/p>\n

Born and raised here in Maryland, I started substitute teaching and tutoring while I was still in high school. My senior year I spearheaded a Sunday School program at a local Spanish-speaking church in Annapolis. While in college I taught dance classes to fellow students and was leading a horsemanship ministry at a nearby mission. Now, with five young boys at home, I have rediscovered my love of teaching through homeschooling and leading classes at our co-op. I always loved to learn, it brings such joy into my life, and I hope to impart that to students who come into my classroom.<\/p>\n

And one fun little fact about me is that I live on a farm. If you can name it, I have raised it… cows, pigs, chickens, alpacas, rabbits….the list goes on. A native of upstate New York, Therese McDaniel has always been driven by a love of creativity. Determined to pursue her passion while avoiding the \u201cstarving artist\u201d path, she earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in Interior Design, with a minor in Italian, from Florida State University. After an eight-year career in Interior Design and Master Planning, she and her husband relocated to Maryland, where they are blessed to homeschool their three children and share their home with two cats and a dog.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since 2016, Therese has been teaching art\u2014and occasionally other subjects\u2014to homeschool students, delighting in inspiring creativity in both kids and adults. Outside of teaching, she enjoys reading, painting, crafting, gardening, and serving in her church\u2019s children\u2019s ministry. Emily Risner fell in love with grammar and literature during her first “Comp & Lit” class at Cornerstone Tutorial in 2000, under the wonderful tutelage of Tutor Emerita Cindy Herndon. Inspired by Mrs. Herndon’s passion for great literature, and encouraged by her gracious support, Emily determined without a doubt that analyzing texts was her passion, and a degree in Literature was the only path for her.<\/span><\/p>\n

Emily completed her Associates Degree at Anne Arundel Community College before transferring to Washington College in Chestertown, MD where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. During her years at Washington College, her faith and her love of literature overlapped under the instruction of a professor who in one class taught the Old Testament from a strictly literary perspective and, in another, taught Chaucer and Tolkein in such a way that the universal truths of the Christian faith were undeniably pronounced. This way of finding art in the Bible, and Biblical truth in real life, has shaped how Emily has approached all of life and education since then.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shortly after graduation, Emily got married and together she and her husband lived on a farm on the Eastern Shore.\u00a0 They later moved to Baltimore City where three of their children were born. Child number four was born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia where the Risner family lived, worked, and homeschooled for 6 years before moving back to the USA. These days, Emily is happy to be living in Annapolis where she grew up. Susan was born and raised in Ridgefield, CT and studied History and English at the University of Connecticut, graduating with her Bachelor of Arts in 2004. She worked in university administration during and after college. After marrying in 2005 she served as a substitute teacher until her husband\u2019s US Coast Guard career took them from Connecticut to Rhode Island where their first child was born, and from there to Maryland, South Carolina, and Oregon \u2013 with a child born in each of those states as well! After five years spent back in Connecticut, Susan and her family moved to Maryland once more and fell in love with Kent Island, where they have lived since 2021.<\/p>\n

Susan is first and foremost a stay-at-home mom to her four children and has been homeschooling them since 2018. To keep her writing skills sharp she kept a blog for nearly a decade while her kids were young and still dreams of someday writing a book. She currently serves as the Children\u2019s Ministries Coordinator at Kent Island Methodist Church and co-teaches PK-5 Sunday School. Education is her passion, and she delights in teaching kids how to think critically, reason clearly, and write cogently. She is thrilled with the opportunity to teach writing at Cornerstone and hopes she can further inspire students to love and appreciate the power of the written word.<\/p>\n

My name is Myra Russell and I live in Windsor Mill in Baltimore County. I was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. I graduated from Clemson University (Go Tigers!) in 1991, with a Bachelor of Science in Science Teaching, with an emphasis in Mathematics. My family moved to Maryland in 2015 when my husband transferred here for his job. We have one son, Jacob, whom I homeschool. Our family are very active members of Severn Run Evangelical Presbyterian Church. I currently volunteer at the food pantry at Open Hands of Maryland at Severna Park EPC. In my free time, I enjoy reading mysteries, hanging out with other homeschool families, and baking.<\/p>\n

I have lived in Maryland for almost 20 years, though I’m a native Pennsylvanian. I have four children and have homeschooled them from K5 all the way up. I always wanted to homeschool, though I never expected to teach, despite having a minor in Teaching English. God guided my life though, giving me opportunities to substitute and then to teach in a local Christian school and then in a local Christian co-op. After leading the co-op for 8 years and with my children getting older, God moved our family towards Cornerstone where we have been attending for several years.<\/p>\n

This year, I am looking forward to teaching Literature and History at Cornerstone! I love to read widely and have always been interested in history. They are both my favorite subjects! I hope to share with my students some of my enthusiasm for the great works of literature and the world events that have shaped the world we live in.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Laura Wiegmann majored in Photography with a minor in Journalism at UMBC, and started her business, Laura\u2019s Eyes Photography, in 1995. She has done countless weddings and portraits, with a specialty in photographing people with special needs.\u00a0She shifted her<\/span>\u00a0focus\u00a0to<\/span>\u00a0Commercial Photography,\u00a0to include everything from headshots, to architecture and construction, events of all kinds, products and marketing photography<\/span>.\u00a0More recently she has also diversified back into encore weddings and portraits. Additionally, Laura does food and event photography as well as some writing for What’s Up? Media.\u00a0<\/span>In 2016, she won the Home Based Business Champion of the Year award for the State of Maryland from the Small Business Administration.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Personally, Laura has raised 6 children ranging in age from\u00a042<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a024<\/span>.
