This course is designed to help the student develop basic music skills with the guitar. Students will learn to play melodies, various rhythms, and harmonies. They will also learn to recognize music symbols and how they relate to the guitar. Intermediate level students will be challenged to develop and enhance their techniques and deepen their knowledge of music theory.
In this class we will cover the following: Guitar Care and Maintenance, proper hand and body positioning, tuning the guitar by “ear”, chord studies, various international rhythms and time signatures, technique of lead scales, music notation and lead sheet reading, and memorizing the fretboard.
Each semester will conclude with a performance by select students individually or with a group in the study hall.
